World Book Day

March 3, 2023 by Niki Jones

Friday 3rd March was St. Katharines World Book Day. There were many characters from many stories on show which included: Harry Potter ,The Midnight Gang, Mary Poppins, Fantastic Mr Fox, Matilda, the Witch from The Room on the Broom and many more from stories that not everyone knew. Our World Book Day represents great novels and authors and we hope it encourages children to read some of the books recommended to them by other children.

This year, Ms. Jones dressed up as Cruella Deville from 101 dalmatians and the teachers were dalmatians, except Mr. Sandall who was Mr.Tom from Goodnight Mister Tom; Sycamore Class have been reading this as their class novel and loving it!

Y6 read with reception and some of the children even asked the Y6 children to read the books again! (we think that it was also a lovely opportunity for Y6 to revisit some old favourites).  We held a big assembly first thing and took lots of photos of the brilliant costumes that children had put so much thought into.
