Thanks to the generosity of parents and their continued support for our PTA, we have been able to purchase our own Kapla sets for use in school. Having taken part in a Kapla experience a couple of years ago, where the whole school helped the building of a Kapla town in the school hall, we were keen to get our own sets. A kind parent lent a set to the school in support of Gem Day and wet playtimes. Watching the creativity of the children and the focussed way that they engaged with the resource made us determined to have our own.
We have trialled a Key Stage 1 Kapla Club this term. This from Mrs Godlement who runs it:
‘This year we have started our first KAPLA club. Kapla club is a hands-on club where children design and construct imaginative structures using Kapla planks. They’ve been busy building towers, coliseums, bridges, spiders and entire cities, it’s a fun way to explore architecture, teamwork and problem-solving.’
Have a look at the photos to see how brilliantly creative the children have been. In the age of screens and the challenges that this presents, Kapla is the antidote to that type of play.
